Therapy for Anxiety

Overwhelmed!
It’s hard to just be.
Nervewracking thoughts sit on your mind all the time.
You can’t get any reprieve.
You worry about people, about money, about anything and everything.
Sometimes you’re so anxious you can’t even name what you’re anxious about.
Trying, But Spinning
People tell you to “calm down,” or that you’re doing it to yourself.
It isn’t that simple.
You’d trade this feeling for anything else in the world.
Coping hasn’t worked. Searching for calm hasn’t worked.
Nothing holds.
What you want is confidence, feeling grounded, feeling like you can rely on yourself again.
You want to live in the moment.
But your mind keeps holding you back.
Safe, Familiar, but Unpleasant
Here’s something most people miss about anxiety.
Anxiety, though deeply uncomfortable, ironically keeps you safe in some ways.
It protects you from dangerous or uncertain things happening to you.
At the same time, it prevents you from living the life you want, doing the things you want to do, connecting with the people you want to connect to.
The same protector trying to keep you safe is keeping you isolated from the world around you.

Learning How to Feel Grounded
Learning how to ground yourself is a necessary skill for managing anxiety.
That looks like an active hobby, exercise, meditation, mindful living, or volunteer work.
Anything you can pour your energy into and feel your feet underneath you again.
Sometimes, the anxiety is so loud you can’t shake the feeling when you try to ground.
Or you’re too anxious to even try. You feel completely disconnected from yourself.
That’s where our relationship comes in.
With my warmth, empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, you’ll feel more at ease to express yourself and connect with what’s going on inside.
Meeting Your Parts
There are many different ways to approach this type of challenge.
Here’s a big one: sometimes we’ll do parts work.
Different feelings of anxiety and other emotions you feel you’re fighting (or that feel like they’re fighting you) come up during session.
These sensations are called “parts.”
With my guidance, you’ll learn to hear them and express them.
By giving these parts a voice, you’ll understand what’s bothering you and feel real relief.
You’ll even meet parts of yourself you rejected long ago.
Though this can feel a little weird, having me on the other side, accepting you with empathy, is an extremely relieving experience.
Slowly, you become more aligned with who you are and more capable of accepting the parts of yourself that you’ve previously rejected.
Can You Imagine?
Can you imagine a life where anxiety doesn’t get to control the situation?
What would it feel like to be aligned with who you are and how you feel?
You can become firmly grounded in the reality of your life.
Instead of being caught in self-doubt, imagine being present with what you’re feeling.
You’ll develop the capacity to make decisions that aren’t based in guilt or fear.
It’s not far off.
You can get there.
