Couples Therapy

Alone and Unseen

You don’t feel understood, cared for, or even wanted.

When you try to communicate with your partner, it turns into something unpleasant.

Friction. Resentment.

The slow drift of two people sleeping in the same bed and living separate lives.

Coldness. Avoidance. Loneliness.

Or rage and animosity. A little of both.

The one person you thought you could rely on, the one who committed everything to you, doesn’t have your back.

Tension Mounting

Your relationship is tense.

Something needs to change.

It’s a you-versus-me relationship.

Instead of thoughtfulness, loving gestures, and a deepening bond…you have defensiveness, isolation, and transactional tit-for-tat.

You try to escape through work, friends, a passion.

Your kids watch you fight.

You notice that they’re picking up on the tension in the house. How is all this impacting them?

You hate to admit it, but part of you is only staying because of the kids.

What Are We Going to Do?

Through my own experience in life, I’ve come to believe that part of being human is doing things other people would call crazy (myself included).

That perspective creates an atmosphere in my office where you feel at ease to actually say what you’re thinking.

Having someone in the room who knows both perspectives – yours and your partner’s – makes the weight a little more tolerable.

I’m in this with you and your partner.

The weight is no longer just yours and your partner’s.

It belongs to the three of us.

Popping Out

Often in therapy, patterns start to appear.

Some are obvious.

Some are subtle.

The same arguments. The same triggers.

The same painful moments that keep showing up in the relationship.

Hurtful as they are, those patterns continue for a reason.

That’s why they last.

These patterns are the tip of the iceberg of what’s really going on between you and inside each of you.

They’re a symptom of feeling alone in the relationship, of living like roommates, of the me-versus-you dynamic.

When you feel alone, you get triggered.

The trigger creates more friction.

The friction creates more aloneness.

It’s a vicious cycle.

How Couples Therapy Breaks Your Cycle

My job is to help you feel less alone.

In a calm, honest atmosphere, we’ll have conversations where you’re listened to, validated, and at times challenged.

You’ll learn more about yourselves and deepen your relationship with your partner.

That’s one end of the spectrum.

I’ll be honest about the other end: my approach gets absurd, even humorous.

At times I’ll even encourage you to keep doing the very pattern you came in to stop.

Because when I join you in the pattern you’re engaging in, you’re no longer alone in it. And when you’re no longer alone in it, the pattern loses its hold.

Reach Out

Relationships are difficult.

They’re also meant to be rewarding.

You and your partner might be struggling now, but it doesn’t have to stay this way.

You deserve to feel appreciated, cared for, and loved.

You deserve romance, teamwork, peace, and harmony.

You’re one click away from making that real.
