Anger

The Anger Is Taking Over
You’re angry.
Not just annoyed or frustrated…you’re angry in a way that feels like it takes over.
Often, it comes out of nowhere.
Other times, it sits under the surface and builds until it explodes. You see it coming, but you don’t know how to stop it.
It shows up all over. At home, with your partner, with your kids, at work.
You’ve said things you don’t mean. Screamed and yelled. Slammed the door.
And afterward?
The awful regret. Simmering guilt and shame.
You don’t know how many times you’ve told yourself, “Next time will be different…”
But then it happens again.
The People Around You Are Scared
They’re walking on eggshells.
Watching what they say and how they say it. They’re trying not to set you off.
You hate that. You hate that this is what it’s become.
You hate that people feel like they have to manage you and your anger.
At the same time, another part of you feels like no one really understands what you’re dealing with inside.
“Just relax!” they say. “Just calm down. Control yourself.”
If it were only that easy…

Anger Has a Purpose
Here’s the part most people miss:
Anger doesn’t just come out of nowhere. It has a purpose. It does something for you.
In a strange way, anger protects you.
It can protect you from feeling disrespected, ignored, hurt, or out of control.
The problem is…anger works a little too well.
It jumps in fast, takes over the situation, and leaves a big mess behind.
Often, anger is the visible part of something much deeper. It’s the tip of the iceberg.
Underneath anger can be things like: feeling alone, not feeling valued, not feeling heard.
Even past experiences that wired you to react this way can lurk underneath the anger explosions.
This explains why when something small happens in the present, it doesn’t stay small. It hits something bigger.
The Anger Cycle
You’ve been living this already.
Here’s how it works:
- You feel triggered.
- You react.
- Things escalate.
- You feel justified and regretful at the same time.
- Then it happens again.
This becomes a pattern.
That pattern operates unconsciously. This isn’t what you want, but it’s what you keep creating.
How Working Together Can Help
My job isn’t to tell you: “Just manage your anger.”
Honestly, that only goes so far.
My job is to dig in and understand it with you. To step into the anger with you so you’re not alone in it.
When you don’t feel alone in the cycle, something shifts.
I’ll slow things down with you to really look at what’s happening in those moments.
There are other times where I’ll meet you in the intensity. Sometimes even in ways that feel a little unexpected or different from what you’re used to.
When, together, we can experience the anger in a different way, it doesn’t have the same grip.
The “Parts” of Your Anger
We’ll also pay attention to the parts of you that are involved in your experience of anger.
The part that gets triggered. The part that reacts. Even the part that feels bad afterward.
Instead of fighting those parts, we’ll start to understand them.
When that happens, you’re not just “controlling anger.” You’re changing your relationship with it.
This is where you can encounter some major insights.
You’ll see how you’ve treated yourself for years – maybe decades – and come to understand why.
Then, you can choose to respond differently when anger comes knocking.
Break the Anger Cycle
You don’t have to keep living the same cycle:
Blow up. Regret. Repeat.
There is a way to feel more in control without feeling like you’re suppressing everything inside.
You can have relationships that feel steady instead of tense.
You can respond instead of react.
You can still be strong…still have a voice…just without it costing everything around you.
If Something Here Hit…
Don’t ignore it.
Reach out.
